dear WHOLE WIDE WORLD…

i have met my match. her name is Lisa Ganser and she is perfect for me, we are in L O V E. only problem is she lives in minneapolis and i live in san francisco. and we are gonna change that. so we have launched this campaign to raise money so she can move here and we can be together.

from our pitch: “We are Lisa Ganser (Minneapolis, MN) and Nomy Lamm (San Francisco, CA), and we have fallen bravely, sweetly, expansively into a love that has quickly turned both of our lives around and saturated us with possibility. Much of it played out publicly on Facebook (there are good things that happen with social media). If you believe for even half a second that those sappy songs, those sonnets, those movies, those cheesy musicals have any truth in them… Well enable us. Enable what we are in, this romantic comedy that is our life. Love is not just for the most privileged amongst us! You don’t have to be rich and straight and skinny and able bodied to be the main character. You don’t have to wait until you are able to get married. You can be a radical queer fat activist crazy person on disability, someone who would always rather give to your community than ask for help, and you can say: We want to be together, and we need support to make this happen. Please open up your heart, your pocket, your coin purse, your fanny pack for us, to help make this dream a reality.”

The Fullness of This Cup: Songwriting Circle for Weirdos, Queerdos and Other Common Folk

April 25-28, Kamilche, WA (about 20 min outside Olympia)

$300-600 sliding scale, $100 deposit required

This will be the first in a series of songwriting retreats to be held at a secluded cabin in the woods outside Olympia, WA. We will gather with both fledgling and experienced songwriters to form a container for creative energy, and to practice adding to and drawing from that energy. We recognize creativity as an essential force that flows through all people, and offer this as safe space in which you are invited to stretch your self, to try new things, to connect and collaborate and respond, and to nurture a dynamic balance between independence and interdependence in the birthing of our most fantastic creative selves. We will work to remove creative blockages and build skills to listen to the creative forces in us and around us. We will do this with the help of guided skill building activities as well as providing individual time to work with prompts, use personal methods, and connect with nature as a source, container and collaborator in creativity.

Who is this for?
-open to all levels, styles, abilities
-queer safe space
-gender inclusive
-we will do our best to accommodate chemical sensitivities and food allergies
-unfortunately the cabin is not wheelchair accessible. There are about 15 steps.

Logistics:
The retreat begins Thursday evening and ends Sunday evening. We will all be staying at the cabin together so you will need to bring your own bedding, whatever you need to be comfortable either on a hardwood floor or camping outdoors. Food is provided.

Cost:
$300-600 sliding scale, includes three full days and nights and all meals.

Nomy Lamm and Erin Daly have been collaborating on music and dreams for nearly a decade. They’ve toured the country together several times, spreading their vision around the US in the three-piece hybrid-genre band Tricrotic, and on the New Road Home tour with DavEnd. They’ve played at festivals including Homo-a-go-go, Ladyfest, Idapalooza, Camp Trans and Outfest. When not immersed in a ((double hug)), Erin roams the wilds of Washington making medicine with the plants she encounters, and Nomy lives in San Francisco writing stories and teaching people to access their voices.

Set in the magical forest of one queer artist’s imagination, Fabulous Artistic Guys Get Overtly Traumatized Sometimes: The Musical!, follows our heroine, DavEnd, as she attempts to write a musical despite her own fears of scarcity and the taunting words of Officer Homo (Stanley Frank). With the help of her Fairy Drag Mother (World Famous *BOB*), she is introduced to a cast of well dressed homosexual clichés– Fruitcake (Travis Santell Rowland), Flamer (Rotimi Agbabiaka), Pansy (Nomy Lamm), and Pussy (Ben McCoy) – and suddenly the musical takes on a life of its own as they take the pages of her discarded script and decide to put on their own show. With singing pink cakes, dancing mirrors, couture genitalia and one stately flower looking for love on the internet, all brought to life through DavEnd’s signature sound and storytelling, Fabulous Artistic Guys Get Overtly Traumatized Sometimes: The Musical!, lives up to it’s title, and more!
